This consultation has now concluded.

Following the implementation of the scheme to better manage the demand for parking in the centre of Woodstock, we're now asking for your views on further proposals which are being brought forward that take into account feedback from users. Specifically the proposals comprise of:

  • Paid Parking Bays (with exemptions for permit holders) - the permit holder only area in Cockpit Close south side will be amended to allow the introduction of paid parking bays where charges will apply between 8am to 6pm (7 days a week) for up to 4 hours which mirrors the restrictions in other areas of Woodstock. There will be exemptions for permit holders, who will be exempt from charges and time limits.
  • Introduction of no waiting at any time restrictions (double yellow lines) - to ensure access is maintained and to better define where parking is permitted, double yellow lines are being promoted in Cockpit Close on the opposite side the dual-purpose parking bays. They are also required in front of dropped kerbs and at the junction with Rectory Lane, and on New Road at the junction for the access road leading to the football club (opposite No.30).
  • Additional 3-hour bays, 8am – 6pm (permit holders except) - to provide additional opportunities for user parking of the nearby community centre, proposals have been developed to add additional 3 hour parking spaces on New Road, which will include exemptions for permit holders to park without time limit.

Have your say.

Please read the detailed information provided on this consultation and take the time to complete the survey as your views and opinions matter. Your response should be completed and returned by 5pm on Friday 25 October 2024.

Whilst we will endeavor to answer simple queries during the course of the consultation, any more complex questions/issues will be appraised and dealt with as part of consultation process.

What happens next?

The County Council will review the responses and if necessary (i.e. if objections are received) prepare a report to be presented to the Cabinet Member for Highway Management at a meeting scheduled for later in 2024. This will be public meeting at which members of the public may apply to speak. The agenda and reports for meetings will be made available on the Oxfordshire County Council web site about a week before the meeting (please note that occasionally it is necessary to defer reports to a later meeting, and it is therefore advisable to check the agenda ahead of attending a meeting). The Forward Plan of decisions meetings can be viewed here.
