This Consultation has now concluded.

We're asking for your views on the proposal to introduce ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ (Double Yellow Lines) parking restrictions within parts of Wantage. On Charlton Village Road new restrictions will be added to both sides, from a point approx. 45 metres east of its junction with Aldworth Avenue, on Springfield Road new restrictions will extend sections of existing lining on both sides, and on Mary Shunn Way new restrictions will be added to both sides from the junction with Springfield Road.

Additionally, a new raised Zebra crossing (for use by pedestrians only) will be constructed on Charlton Village Road, approx. 29 metres east of its junction with Aldworth Avenue, with the crossing sited on a new flat top road hump. As a result a pair of existing speed cushions will be removed to make way for the proposed crossings zig-zag lining.

The proposals are being put forward 1) as a result of road safety concerns raised around the vicinity of Charlton Primary School, and 2) as a result of residential development adjacent to Springfield Road, in order to prevent obstruction and aid visibility.

Please read the detailed information provided on this consultation, and take the time to complete the survey as your views and opinions matter. Your response should be completed and returned by Friday 30 September 2022. Oxfordshire County Council will collate all correspondence and comments received in response to this consultation, and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Whilst we will endeavour to answer simple queries during the course of the consultation, any more complex questions/issues will be appraised and dealt with as part of consultation process.

What happens next?

The County Council will review the responses and if necessary (i.e. if objections are received) prepare a report to be presented to the Cabinet Member for Highway Management at a meeting scheduled for later in 2022. This will be public meeting at which members of the public may apply to speak. The agenda and reports for meetings will be made available on the Oxfordshire County Council web site about a week before the meeting (please note that occasionally it is necessary to defer reports to a later meeting, and it is therefore advisable to check the agenda ahead of attending a meeting). The Forward Plan of decisions meetings can be viewed here
