This consultation has now concluded.

We're asking for your views on the proposal to formally install a new Minimum Impact (low signage) CPZ within those roads adjacent to the A4144 Abingdon Road, south of Hinksey Park. This follows on from the recent ‘informal’ consultation that was carried out in February/March this year, and the subsequent approval to proceed to formal consultation granted in March 2021.

It is proposed that the scheme would be introduced as a ‘Permit Parking Area’ (PPA) which uses entry and repeater signs to inform motorists of the restrictions in place (e.g. no bay markings), with operational hours for the zone for ‘Residents Permit Parking’ being Monday to Saturday between 8am and 6.30pm. Non-permit holders will be eligible to park for a maximum of 2 hours with no return within 2 hours during these hours. This affords residents & visitors the flexibility of where they can park and reduces the amount of sign and line clutter.

Additional waiting restrictions in the form of ‘Prohibition of waiting at any time’ (double yellow lines) will be introduced in parts of: John Towle Close, Lincoln Road, Monmouth Road, Norreys Avenue, Northampton Road, Oswestry Road, and Wytham Street.

Residents of: Bertie Place, Canning Crescent, Chatham Road, Fox Crescent, John Towle Close, Lincoln Road, Monmouth Road, Norreys Avenue, Northampton Road, Oswestry Road, Peel Place, Sunningwell Road, Weirs Lane, and Wytham Street will be able to apply for a maximum of two residents annual parking permits per property.

Whilst residents of: Abingdon Road (Nos.158-430), Gordon Street, Green Place, Lake Street, School Place, Stewart Street, Summerfield, Vicarage Lane, and Vicarage Road will be able to apply for a maximum of one residents annual parking permits per property.

Please read the information provided on this consultation, your views and opinions matter. Please take the time to complete the survey, your response should be completed and returned by Friday 27 August 2021.

Whilst we will endeavour to answer simple queries during the course of the consultation, due the potentially large volume of responses received any more complex questions/issues will be appraised and dealt with as part of consultation process.

What happens next?

The County Council will review the responses and prepare a report to be presented to the Cabinet Member for Highway Management at a meeting provisionally scheduled for 24 September 2021. This is a public meeting at which members of the public may apply to speak. The agenda and reports for this meeting will be available on the Oxfordshire County Council web site about a week before the meeting (please note that occasionally it is necessary to defer reports to a later meeting, and it is therefore advisable to check the agenda ahead of attending a meeting).
