In Oxfordshire, representatives from parents and carers, education, health, and social care, work together as the Local Area Partnership (LAP). Using feedback, engagement events and outcomes from inspections, the LAP has co-designed a new SEND strategy. We’d like to hear your views on the draft SEND Strategy for 2026 - 2029.

The draft SEND strategy has eight commitments. These commitments are designed to help children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Oxfordshire feel valued, included and supported early. The commitments also support children and young people to feel they belong in their communities, and to navigate key transitions, including preparing for their future in ways that reflect their individual needs and aspirations.

The LAP would like your feedback on the draft strategy’s commitments.

Have your say

Please read the draft strategy document before you start the survey.

  • Complete the online survey using the link below.
  • The survey should take about 20 minutes, depending on how much you want to tell the LAP.
  • Please submit your completed survey by 03 August 2026.

Consultation meetings and events

We are working with Oxfordshire Parent Carers Forum (OxPCF) to organise a range of face-to-face and online events so you can share your views. Once dates are confirmed, details will be provided on this page and shared through local channels, and social media.

What happens after the consultation period ends?

The LAP will carefully consider everything people tell them in this consultation.

Representatives from the LAP will read all the responses and prepare a report that sums up what they have heard, and the main issues raised.

This report will be looked at with other important information, such as financial and legal information and an equality impact assessment. Your feedback will help deliver a robust SEND strategy for children, young people and their families in Oxfordshire.

National SEND reforms

SEND support is currently undergoing national reform.

The draft strategy explains how Oxfordshire’s long-term vision for SEND aligns with the local SEND Reform Plan.
