No knowledge of politics needed.... you just need to be aged 11 to 18 and live or study in Oxfordshire to take part.
This October, Pizza and Politics is back with a Votes at 16 special.
Oxfordshire County Council and the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government are bringing young people together with politicians, public policy experts, and democratic leaders.
Politics affects everyday life - from school, transport, housing and jobs to the environment, health services, AI and young people’s use of social media. With plans to lower the voting age to 16, this is a big moment for young people to be part of the conversation.

You’ll get the chance to have your voice heard, challenge decision-makers with your questions, and explore how young people can play a bigger role in shaping the future.
What to expect
The event will be friendly, interactive and practical.
You will:
- hear from political leaders and experts
- ask questions of them during a panel Q&A
- explore Votes at 16 and what it could mean for young people
- take part in live polls, activities and small-group discussions
- connect with other young people from across Oxfordshire
- share ideas about how democracy could work better for future generations

Time: 5.30pm to 8.30pm
Where: Central Oxford - venue details shared nearer the time
Who: Young people aged 11 to 18 who live or study in Oxfordshire
Cost: Free. You will get £15, travel expenses and a certificate for taking part
Food: Pizza, snacks and refreshments provided
Staff: The session will be run by DBS-checked council staff
Photography and filming:
Photography and filming will take place during the event. Images and video may be used by Oxfordshire County Council, the Blavatnik School of Government and event partners to share young people’s involvement in civic engagement and democracy projects. How to sign up

If you are under 16, your parent or carer needs to complete the form for you.
Signing up does not guarantee you can go. We’ll contact you from Thursday 15 October to confirm if you have a place.
If sign-ups are much higher than the number of places available, we may close the form early.
If you’ve been to a pizza and politics event before, that’s brilliant! However, if we are oversubscribed, we will be prioritising young people who haven’t been before.
