We’re asking for your views on proposals to provide more cycle and micromobility parking at locations across Oxford. We are proposing 25 new cycle parking stands on the carriageway at locations in East Oxford, including Bartlemas Road, Catherine Street, East Avenue and Rectory Road, as well as Worcester Place in Jericho. Together, these would provide secure parking for up to 50 pedal cycles.

The proposals have been developed in response to requests from residents, local councillors, businesses and community organisations, and is funded through City Cycling Infrastructure Funds. By providing convenient cycle parking close to where people live, work and visit, the proposals aim to make it easier for people to choose cycling for everyday journeys and supports the Council’s wider objective of making walking, cycling, public and shared transport the natural first choice.

We are also proposing six new on-carriageway micromobility parking bays at Bullingdon Road, Circus Street, James Street, Marston Street, Rectory Road and Temple Street. These bays would provide additional parking capacity for the public e-scooter and e-bike hire schemes operating in Oxford, helping to make these sustainable transport options more convenient and available.

You can find out more about Oxford’s e-scooter and e-bike hire through the links below, including how the scheme works and how vehicles should be used and parked:

Have your say.

Please read the detailed information provided on this consultation, and take the time to complete the survey as your views and opinions matter. Your response should be completed and returned by 5pm on Friday 04 December 2026.

Whilst we will endeavour to answer simple queries during the course of the consultation, any more complex questions/issues will be appraised and dealt with as part of consultation process.

What happens next?

The County Council will review the responses and if necessary (i.e. if objections are received) prepare a report to be presented to the Cabinet Member for Highway Management at a meeting scheduled for early in 2027. This will be public meeting at which members of the public may apply to speak. The agenda and reports for meetings will be made available on the Oxfordshire County Council web site about a week before the meeting (please note that occasionally it is necessary to defer reports to a later meeting, and it is therefore advisable to check the agenda ahead of attending a meeting). The Forward Plan of decisions meetings can be viewed here.
