We're asking for your views on the proposal to amend existing parking restrictions In Oxford City to accommodate new parking bays for the use of Electric Taxis & vehicles to recharge.

  • In Old Greyfriars Street (west side) new EV bays for use by E-taxis only will be installed in the existing taxi rank; with 2 bays to be located approx. 85 meters south of Turn Again Lane, and 2 bays to be installed approx. 43 meters south of Turn Again Lane.
  • In Keble Road the existing non-taxi one-hour EV recharging bay located east of Banbury Road is to be converted for E-Taxi One Hour Recharging (No Return within 2 hours). A new ‘general use’ electric vehicle charging point (2 spaces) is also proposed on the northern side, approx. 84 meters east of Banbury Road. The existing Pay & Display parking bay will be reduced as a result. The lost length of Pay & Display parking spaces will be moved to the south side of Keble Road, extending the existing parking at the western end by 11 metres.

Please read the detailed information provided on this consultation, and take the time to complete the survey as your views and opinions matter. Your response should be completed and returned by Thursday 09 June 2022.

Whilst we will endeavour to answer simple queries during the course of the consultation, any more complex questions/issues will be appraised and dealt with as part of consultation process.

What happens next?

The County Council will review the responses and if necessary (i.e. if objections are received) prepare a report to be presented to the Cabinet Member for Highway Management at a meeting scheduled for June 2022. This will be public meeting at which members of the public may apply to speak. The agenda and reports for meetings will be made available on the Oxfordshire County Council web site about a week before the meeting (please note that occasionally it is necessary to defer reports to a later meeting, and it is therefore advisable to check the agenda ahead of attending a meeting).
