Tell us your preferences and views for Oxfordshire’s household waste recycling centre (HWRC) network.

Introduction

Providing waste disposal and provision of household waste recycling centres (HWRCs) is a statutory service. Oxfordshire County Council is seeking to make changes to help modernise the service, and drive efficiency. We recognise that proposed changes can have implications for those who use HWRCs, so it is important that residents can provide their views. Feedback received will inform decision making, along with other considerations.

This consultation is seeking views on aspects of the HWRC waste acceptance policy, including:

  • Your use of our household waste recycling centres (HWRCs)
  • HWRC availability
  • Improving reuse and recycling at HWRCs, including sale of second-hand/used items received at HWRCs
  • Bringing waste to the HWRCs
  • The van and trailer permit scheme policy

Booking systems

Please note booking systems are not the subject of this consultation as this was included in a previous engagement survey. Following a subsequent cabinet member decision, a booking system is scheduled to be introduced in Oxfordshire this year.

Many other local authorities have successfully introduced booking systems and have reported an improvement in the customer experience.

The booking system means that all residents will need to book a visit online, before they visit an HWRC. The benefits for residents will be reduced queue times, certainty of access, site staff will be better able to proactively assist customers using the services, and there will be better availability of information surrounding each visit. More detail on the booking system will be made available in advance of the system being implemented.
