Welcome to the engagement page for the Haddenham to Thame active travel route project.

There has been a longstanding local desire for a safer and easier route for walking, cycling and wheeling to be provided between Haddenham (including Haddenham & Thame Parkway Station) and Thame.

Oxfordshire County Council and Buckinghamshire Council are working together to consider options for a walking, cycling, and wheeling route between Haddenham and Thame, including Haddenham and Thame Parkway Station.

The two councils are together carrying out an assessment to compare different high-level options for a route and understand the challenges involved. This assessment will identify any major problems that that could prevent a route from being delivered or make it much more expensive or difficult to build.

The identified options are organised into four groups, and the assessment recommends eight options that could be taken forward for further consideration. No preferred option has been selected at this stage nor any decisions taken on delivery. We are seeking your views to help inform decision making and the next phase of work.

What happens next

After the engagement period closes, the feedback will be reviewed alongside the technical evidence. Oxfordshire County Council and Buckinghamshire Council will then make a joint decision on what happens next.

If the project progresses, further work may include assessments, design development, environmental studies, business case preparation and sourcing funding. Further engagement with landowners, statutory bodies and consultation with local communities is expected as more detailed work is developed and future decisions are considered. Funding would also need to be sourced.
