Frilford: A338 Oxford Road - proposed 30mph & 40mph speed limits

We're asking for your views on the proposal to lower the existing 40mph & 50mph speed limits on the A338 Oxford Road. The proposals will see an initial 30mph speed limit for approx. 450 metres north of the A338 Oxford Road/A415 staggered crossroads junction in place of the existing 40mph speed limit, followed immediately by a 40mph speed limit in place of the existing 50mph speed limit up to the junction with Abingdon Road at Tubney.

The proposals are being put forward following concerns raised by the Parish and the local County Cllr regarding road safety, and the speed of traffic on the A338 Oxford Road, specifically in the vicinity of the A338 Oxford Road/A415 staggered crossroads junction.

What happens next?

The County Council will review the responses and if necessary (i.e. if objections are received) prepare a report to be presented to the Cabinet Member for Highway Management at a meeting scheduled for later in 2023. This will be public meeting at which members of the public may apply to speak. The agenda and reports for meetings will be made available on the Oxfordshire County Council web site about a week before the meeting (please note that occasionally it is necessary to defer reports to a later meeting, and it is therefore advisable to check the agenda ahead of attending a meeting).
