Eynsham - proposed 20mph & other speed limits
This consultation has now concluded.
We're asking for your views on the proposal to reduce speed limits in Eynsham as a result of road safety concerns raised by the Parish Council. The proposals will see a reduction of the existing 30mph speed limit in its entirety to 20mph. Additionally, accompanying the proposed 20mph limit new 40mph ‘buffer’ speed limits will be introduced on the approaches/peripheral routes.
The proposed 20mph speed limit will extend out to points on the following roads:
- Cassington Road (western section),
- Hanborough Road,
- Hazeldene Close,
- Oxford Road,
- Station Road, and
- Witney Road.
Thereafter, new 40mph ‘buffer’ speed limits will be introduced, extending outwards from the 20mph limit to points on the following roads:
- B4044 Oxford Road from its junction with the B4449, south-eastwards to the existing 30mph speed limit at Swinford Bridge,
- B4449 (to the east and south of Eynsham) from its roundabout junction with the A40 Oxford – Witney road, continuing southwards to its
roundabout junction at Old Station Way/Station Road.
Finally, a new 30mph speed limit will be introduced on the Cassington Road (eastern section) – north-eastwards from the B4449 to a point 235 metres southwest of its junction with the A40.
Please read the detailed information provided on this consultation, and take the time to complete the survey as your views and opinions matter. Your response should be completed and returned by Friday 01 April 2022.
Whilst we will endeavour to answer simple queries during the course of the consultation, any more complex questions/issues will be appraised and dealt with as part of consultation process.
What happens next?
The County Council will review the responses and if necessary (i.e. if objections are received) prepare a report to be presented to the Cabinet Member for Highway Management at a meeting scheduled for later in 2022. This will be public meeting at which members of the public may apply to speak. The agenda and reports for meetings will be made available on the Oxfordshire County Council web site about a week before the meeting (please note that occasionally it is necessary to defer reports to a later meeting, and it is therefore advisable to check the agenda ahead of attending a meeting).
