This consultation has now concluded.

We're asking for your views on the proposal to extend the existing 30mph speed limit on the B4031 westwards by approx. 136 metres, reducing the existing national (60mph) speed limit in the process. The proposals are being put forward as a result of the development of land for residential purposes adjacent to the B4031 Hempton Road at the western edge of Deddington, and the extended speed limit will cover the access junction to the new development helping to ensure the safe movement of traffic into and from the estate.

Additionally, a traffic calming ‘build-out’ feature will be constructed on the northern side of the B4031 carriageway, approximately 160 metres west of its junction with Wimborn Close. This seeks to slow traffic entering the village, with vehicle priority given to traffic travelling westwards out of the village.

Please read the detailed information provided on this consultation, and take the time to complete the survey as your views and opinions matter. Your response should be completed and returned by Friday 16 September 2022. Oxfordshire County Council will collate all correspondence and comments received in response to this consultation, and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Whilst we will endeavour to answer simple queries during the course of the consultation, any more complex questions/issues will be appraised and dealt with as part of consultation process.

What happens next?

The County Council will review the responses and if necessary (i.e. if objections are received) prepare a report to be presented to the Cabinet Member for Highway Management at a meeting scheduled for later in 2022. This will be public meeting at which members of the public may apply to speak. The agenda and reports for meetings will be made available on the Oxfordshire County Council web site about a week before the meeting. Please note that occasionally it is necessary to defer reports to a later meeting, and it is therefore advisable to check the agenda ahead of attending a meeting, the Forward Plan of decisions meetings can be viewed here.
