This consultation has now concluded.
We're asking for your views on the proposal to introduce further restrictions that prohibit parking at any time (double yellow lines) in some residential streets within the Bure Park & Bucknell Road areas of Bicester. The majority of the proposals seek to address road safety problems and the obstruction of traffic, particularly where parking currently is too close to junctions or bends, and thereby not in accordance with the Highway Code. Proposals are also put forward at locations where parked cars obstruct safe access to or exit from off-road parking places, therefore improving the passage of traffic, as well as improving safety for more vulnerable road users in the area.
Amendments are proposed on the following roads:
Arkwright Road
Cemetery Road
Medina Gardens
Beckdale Close
Churchill Road
Tay Gardens
Brashfield Road
Cranesbill Drive
Victoria Court
Browning Drive
Graham Road
Victoria Road
Bucknell Road
Hudson Street
Wansbeck Drive
Bunyan Road
Kipling Close
Wordsworth Close
Additionally, the proposals incorporate the provision of extra parking spaces for approximately 6 to 7 resident permit holders in Victoria Road and Victoria Court through the removal of approximately 40 metres of existing yellow lines, and the extension of existing marked parking bays.
Have your say.
Please read the detailed information provided on this consultation and take the time to complete the survey as your views and opinions matter. Your response should be completed and returned by 5pm on Friday 27 October 2023.
Whilst we will endeavor to answer simple queries during the course of the consultation, any more complex questions/issues will be appraised and dealt with as part of consultation process.
What happens next?
The county council will review the responses and if necessary (i.e. if objections are received) prepare a report to be presented to the Cabinet Member for Highway Management at a meeting scheduled for later in 2023. This will be public meeting at which members of the public may apply to speak. The agenda and reports for meetings will be made available on the Oxfordshire County Council web site about a week before the meeting (please note that occasionally it is necessary to defer reports to a later meeting, and it is therefore advisable to check the agenda ahead of attending a meeting). The Forward Plan of decisions meetings can be viewed here.
