Consultation into the future of
Nursery Provision at The ACE Centre Nursery School, Chipping Norton
17 November – 12 December 2025
The ACE Centre Nursery School is located on the Burford Road in the centre of Chipping Norton and is one of 7 maintained nursery schools across Oxfordshire. It is a freestanding 39 full-time equivalent place nursery providing school hours term time only provision for 3-5 year-olds and also admits 2 years-olds introduced under s27 Governor powers. There are currently 23 children on roll.
Based on current pupil numbers and the long-term viability of the nursery, we are exploring whether The ACE Centre Nursery School should be closed.
This consultation is to gather the information that would be necessary if it is decided to propose formal closure of The ACE Centre Nursery School. This includes:
Whether there are viable alternatives to the closure of the nursery school.
Whether closure would support or harm educational standards in this area.
How pupils will be accommodated, should the ACE Centre Nursery School be closed.
What impact closure would have on the local community, and what can be done to mitigate any adverse impact.
This consultation is about gathering information to inform any future proposal.
It is important to stress at this stage that no decisions have been taken. Everyone with an interest in the provision of good quality education and childcare in the local area is encouraged to take part in the consultation, to inform future decisions.
The full details of this proposal are included in the informal consultation document.
Please complete the online survey by clicking the 'TAKE SURVEY' button below.
This consultation closes at midnight on 12th December 2025.
The feedback from this consultation will then be reported to the Oxfordshire County Council Cabinet Member responsible for Education, to inform the decision whether to proceed to a formal consultation.
