This consultation has now concluded.

We're asking for your views on the proposal to correct an administrative error within the recently made town-wide Abingdon speed limit Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) - implemented as part of the countywide 20mph programme - which incorrectly scheduled part of the A4183 Oxford Road as having a 20mph speed limit, as opposed to retaining its 30mph speed limit as approved & installed.

PLEASE NOTE: The currently installed & signed speed limits - which reflect the speed limits approved at the Cabinet Members Decision meeting 27th April 2023, and implemented 16th October 2023 - will remain unaffected by this amendment, with no new limits proposed. These proposals simply seek to ensure the approved speed limits are scheduled correctly in the relevant legal speed limit order, and as such any comments relating to the change of speed limit may be deemed non-material to this consultation.

Have your say.

Please read the detailed information provided and take the time to complete the survey as your views and opinions matter. Your response should be completed and returned by 5pm on Friday 25 October 2024.

Whilst we will endeavor to answer simple queries, any more complex questions/issues will be appraised and dealt with as part of decision making process.

What happens next?

The county council will review the responses and if necessary (i.e. if objections are received) prepare a report to be presented to the Cabinet Member for Highway Management at a meeting scheduled for later in 2024. This will be public meeting at which members of the public may apply to speak. The agenda and reports for meetings will be made available on the Oxfordshire County Council web site about a week before the meeting (please note that occasionally it is necessary to defer reports to a later meeting, and it is therefore advisable to check the agenda ahead of attending a meeting). The Forward Plan of decisions meetings can be viewed here.
