Consultation has concluded

We want to make walking and cycling easier and more enjoyable for all in Abingdon.

We have drafted a plan based on national guidance and input from local stakeholders to help us achieve this. The document is called a Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP).

LCWIPs identify key destinations where people can walk and/or cycle in a particular area and make suggestions for improving the routes to these destinations.

Switching from another mode of transport to walking and cycling is not only an important part of the solution to combat climate change, but also has many health benefits.

Documents to review

The draft LCWIP document and its appendices (including maps in high-resolution PDF format) are available under the ‘Consultation Documents’ section on the right-hand side of the page (or below if you are viewing on mobile).

Have your say

We’d like to hear what you think about the LCWIP, including whether it identifies the most important routes and improvements needed in Abingdon, and what we can do to make the plan better.

Please fill in our online survey by clicking the ‘TAKE SURVEY’ button below.

If you would like to let us know about an issue affecting walking and/or cycling in Abingdon at a particular location by marking it on a map, rather than (or as well as) by responding to the survey, you can do so by clicking on the 'Map' button below and adding a pin to the map with your comments. Note that your suggested improvements may already have been included in the LCWIP. Please refer to appendices G and H (see the right-hand side of this page or below if viewing on mobile) before adding a pin to the map.

We realise that walking or cycling is not an option for everyone. We would especially like to hear the views of people who find it challenging to walk or cycle in Abingdon. In particular, we would like to hear about the issues you face, where you believe improvements are needed and whether our plan meets your needs.

We will not share any of your personal information from this consultation.

What happens next?

The consultation closes on Wednesday 30 November 2022. We will then review all comments and where appropriate, incorporate these into the plan. The final version of the plan will then go through a process at Oxfordshire County Council which will allow it to be formally adopted as council policy. This will help us to bid for funding as it becomes available to improve walking and cycling conditions in and around Abingdon.
