Let's talk Abingdon Bridge

Consultation has concluded

Oxfordshire County Council has been conducting a trial on Abingdon Bridge to encourage more people to walk or cycle across it rather than drive.

Temporary traffic signals were introduced on the bridge in May after an inspection revealed stonework on the northern arch of the bridge – which carries the A415 across the River Thames in Abingdon – had become displaced.

The temporary traffic signals were later moved further apart to either end of Abingdon Bridge to create a dedicated space for ‘active travel’, particularly cyclists and pedestrians, over the bridge.

Whilst the trial setup is still live on Abingdon Bridge – the ‘Let’s Talk’ online survey is now currently closed so that the responses can be considered and options for the next steps be presented to local Councillors.
