Consultation has concluded

To inform interested parties that the Modification Order to add three linked bridleways in Checkendon and Rotherfield Peppard has now been confirmed and so the bridleways will be recorded on the Definitive Map and Statement.

Checkendon Bridleway Nos. 41 and 42 and Rotherfield Peppard Bridleway No. 40 Modification Order 2023

Oxfordshire County Council made a Modification Order in October 2023 to add 3 linked bridleways in Checkendon and Rotherfield Peppard Parishes, as shown A – G, G – J and G – N on the Order plan on the right hand side.

The council made this Order because there is sufficient evidence to suggest that Bridleways subsist or are reasonably alleged to subsist and therefore these should be shown on the map and statement. This evidence consists of evidence of use by the public. The report and its appendices are available on request from the case officer - contact details are shown above.

Confirmation of the order

Objections were received to the Order, and so the Order was forwarded to the Planning Inspectorate. An Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs confirmed the order without modification on 8 August 2025, and the bridleways will be recorded on the Definitive Map and Statement.

If you would like further details please contact the Case Officer, Chris Atkins, on tel. no. 01865 815835 or email chris.atkins@oxfordshire.gov.uk.
