Background
Young carers are children and young people under 18 who care for a family member or friend due to illness, disability, mental health issue, or addiction.
We recognise some young carers may face challenges that affect their education and well-being, such as missing school, lower GCSE attainment, and mental health issues such as anxiety and depression.
By fostering a strong partnership between schools and the local authority, we can more effectively identify and support young carers to ensure their academic and personal growth.
