This consultation has now concluded.

Following the previous consultation carried out in April on measures to support the A44 ‘North Oxford Corridor’ (priority 1a) scheme (see here for details), we're now asking for your views on the proposal to introduce a raised/humped ‘Parallel’ Crossing (combined pedestrian & cycle crossing) on the Cassington Road approx. 10 metres west of the western edge of the Cassington roundabout.

The crossing will consist of a zebra crossing (for pedestrian use only) with an adjoining parallel priority cycleway to be used by pedal cyclists, and will be sited on a new flat top road hump approx. 6m wide (with additional 1.125m ramps), 75mm high, with a ramp gradient of 1:15.

Additionally, new 'Keep Clear' road markings will be introduced on the circulatory carriageway of the Cassington Road roundabout, on the western side approximately adjacent to the junction with Cassington Road - however the exact location has yet to be finalised.

The proposal forms part of the A44 ‘North Oxford Corridor’ (priority 1a) scheme (details available here) which seeks to make improvements between the Cassington roundabout and the Loop Farm roundabout.

Please read the detailed information provided on this consultation and take the time to complete the survey as your views and opinions matter. Your response should be completed and returned by Friday 25 November 2022.

Whilst we will endeavor to answer simple queries during the course of the consultation, any more complex questions/issues will be appraised and dealt with as part of consultation process.

What happens next?

The County Council will review the responses and if necessary (i.e. if objections are received) prepare a report to be presented to the Cabinet Member for Highway Management at a meeting scheduled for later in 2022/early in 2023. This will be public meeting at which members of the public may apply to speak. The agenda and reports for meetings will be made available on the Oxfordshire County Council web site about a week before the meeting (please note that occasionally it is necessary to defer reports to a later meeting, and it is therefore advisable to check the agenda ahead of attending a meeting). The Forward Plan of decisions meetings can be viewed here.
