Witney Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP)
Consultation has concluded
We want to make walking and cycling easier and more enjoyable for all in Witney.
We have drafted a plan based on national guidance and input from local stakeholders to help us achieve this. The document is called a Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP).
The LCWIP identifies destinations in Witney and the surrounding area that are accessible by walking and cycling and makes suggestions for how to improve these walking and cycling routes.
Switching from another mode of transport to walking and cycling is not only an important part of the solution to combat climate change, but also has many health benefits.
What is the LCWIP Vision for Witney and the surrounding area?
'By 2033, Witney will have safe, convenient, and well-connected walking and cycling networks that are accessible for people of all abilities, ages and backgrounds. These networks will connect people to where they want to go, including excellent routes to access public transport. Walking and cycling will become the everyday choice for short journeys, or as part of longer journeys combined with using public transport, in Witney and beyond. A culture of walking and cycling will be achieved, creating a thriving, healthy and vibrant community, and making Witney a great place to live, work and visit.'
Have your say on the Witney LCWIP?
We would like to hear your views on the Witney LCWIP, including whether the most important walking and cycling routes and improvements have been identified and what we can do to make the plan better.
Please fill in our online survey by clicking the ‘TAKE SURVEY’ button below.
We realise that walking and/or cycling is not an option for everyone. We would especially like to hear the views of people who find it challenging to walk or cycle in Witney and the surrounding area and whether our plan meets your needs.
We will not share any of your personal information from this consultation.
Documents to review
The draft LCWIP document and its appendices (including maps in high-resolution PDF format) are available under the ‘Consultation Documents’ section on the right-hand side of the page (or below if you are viewing on mobile).
What happens next?
The consultation closes on 20 January 2023. We will then review all comments and where appropriate, incorporate these into the plan. The final version of the plan will then go through a process at Oxfordshire County Council that will allow it to be formally adopted as council policy. This will help us to bid for funding as it becomes available to improve walking and cycling conditions in Witney and the surrounding area.
