This consultation has now concluded.
We're asking for your views on the proposal to introduce new & amend existing parking measures in Whitchurch-on-Thames. The proposals are being put forward in accordance with OCC parking policy, and seek to better manage parking in the centre of the village which will help residents find parking closer to their properties and prevent all day parking by non-residents, also to improve traffic flow, and for road safety reasons to help improve visibility for more vulnerable road-users, including pupils & parents crossing High Street on their way to/from school.
‘Permit Holder Only’ & ‘Shared Use’ parking bays are proposed on various sections on the western side of High Street, with resident permit holders* (see note) permitted to park provided they display a valid parking permit, and non-residents being able to park for 2 hours, with the restrictions applying Monday to Saturday from 8am to 5pm.
Proposed sections of ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ (double yellow lines) & ‘No Waiting Mon-Sat 8am to 5pm’ (single yellow lines) restrictions are also to be introduced on High Street in order to help improve traffic movements & visibility.
* Note: Residents of High Street: west side - between & including ‘Coombe House & ‘The Old Rectory’, & east side - between & including ‘The Vines’ & ‘Metten Cottage’) will be eligible to apply for one permit per resident, with a maximum of two residents annual parking permits per property.
Have your say.
Please read the detailed information provided on this consultation and take the time to complete the survey as your views and opinions matter. Your response should be completed and returned by 5pm on Friday 17 November 2023.
Whilst we will endeavor to answer simple queries during the course of the consultation, any more complex questions/issues will be appraised and dealt with as part of consultation process.
What happens next?
The county council will review the responses and if necessary (i.e. if objections are received) prepare a report to be presented to the Cabinet Member for Highway Management at a meeting scheduled for later in 2023/early in 2024. This will be public meeting at which members of the public may apply to speak. The agenda and reports for meetings will be made available on the Oxfordshire County Council web site about a week before the meeting (please note that occasionally it is necessary to defer reports to a later meeting, and it is therefore advisable to check the agenda ahead of attending a meeting). The Forward Plan of decisions meetings can be viewed here.
