We're asking for your views on the proposal to introduce new & amend existing parking measures in Wheatley. The proposals are being put forward in accordance with OCC parking policy, for road safety reasons, to protect visibility and turning at junctions, prioritise parking for short-stays in certain areas, and also assist with local parking needs for residents. The proposals are summarised as follows:

A. New ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restrictions (double yellow lines) will be introduced on parts of the A40 Overbridge, Church Road, Farm Close Road, Holloway Road, Howe Close, Kelham Hall Drive, Ladder Hill, Littleworth Road, London Road, Morland Close, Park Hill, Simon’s Close, Station Road, Templars Close, and Westfield Road.

B. the existing advisory ‘School Keep Clear’ (zig-zag markings) on Littleworth Road will be upgraded to enforceable ‘No Stopping on school entrance markings Mondays to Fridays 8am-9am and 2.30pm-3.30pm’.

C. New & amendments to existing Parking Places as follows:

  • Proposed Permit holders only ‘Mondays to Fridays 9am to 4pm’ on Bell Lane,
  • existing time-limited bays on High Street are proposed to be altered to ‘Shared’ parking between Permit holders only & short-stay parking for up to 1 hour, no return within 1 hour, on ‘Mondays to Fridays 9am to 4pm’,

Residents of the following properties will be eligible to apply for annual residents permits (limited to one per resident with a maximum of two permits per property & £70 per permit per annum):

  • Bell Lane: Nos.2-8 even numbers, and Nos.1-17 odd numbers (inclusive)
  • High Street: Nos.2- 100 even numbers, and Nos.5-109 odd numbers (inclusive)

Have your say.

Please read the detailed information provided on this consultation and take the time to complete the survey as your views and opinions matter. Your response should be completed and returned by 5pm on Friday 19 April 2024.

Whilst we will endeavor to answer simple queries during the course of the consultation, any more complex questions/issues will be appraised and dealt with as part of consultation process.

What happens next?

The county council will review the responses and if necessary (i.e. if objections are received) prepare a report to be presented to the Cabinet Member for Highway Management at a meeting scheduled for later in 2024. This will be public meeting at which members of the public may apply to speak. The agenda and reports for meetings will be made available on the Oxfordshire County Council web site about a week before the meeting (please note that occasionally it is necessary to defer reports to a later meeting, and it is therefore advisable to check the agenda ahead of attending a meeting). The Forward Plan of decisions meetings can be viewed here.
