This consultation has now concluded.
We're asking for your views on the proposal to formally install a new Minimum Impact (low signage) CPZ to include those roads within the area approximately bounded by Barracks Lane to the north, Marsh Road to the west, Oxford Road to the south and Hollow Way to the east. This follows on from the ‘informal’ consultation carried out in November/December 2018, and the subsequent approval to progress to formal consultation at a later date (possibly following the implementation of the alternative CPZ schemes and subject to funding being available) granted in April 2019.
It is proposed that the scheme would be introduced as a ‘Permit Parking Area’ (PPA) which uses entry and repeater signs to inform motorists of the restrictions in place (e.g. no bay markings), with operational hours for the zone for ‘Residents Permit Parking’ being Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm. Non-permit holders will be eligible to park for a maximum of 2 hours with no return within 2 hours during these hours. This affords residents & visitors the flexibility of where they can park and reduces the amount of sign and line clutter
Additional waiting restrictions in the form of ‘Prohibition of waiting at any time’ (double yellow lines) will be introduced in parts of: Cowley Road, Crescent Road, Kirby Place, Marsh Road, Owens Way, St Christophers Place (in place of the existing single yellow lines), and Temple Road. The existing ‘One Hour Parking Places 8am to 6.30pm Monday to Saturday’ on Marsh Road in the vicinity of the Motor Garage will be removed & also changed to double yellow lines.
Note: these proposals - whilst having similar wider strategic objectives - are separate from the ongoing experimental 'Low Traffic Neighbourhood' proposals in Cowley, details on these including how to have your say can be found by clicking here.

What happens next?
The County Council will review the responses and prepare a report to be presented to the Cabinet Member for Highway Management at a meeting provisionally scheduled for 24 September 2021. This is a public meeting at which members of the public may apply to speak. The agenda and reports for this meeting will be available on the Oxfordshire County Council web site about a week before the meeting (please note that occasionally it is necessary to defer reports to a later meeting, and it is therefore advisable to check the agenda ahead of attending a meeting).
