This consultation has now concluded.

We're asking for your views on the proposal to extend the existing 30mph speed limit on the A417 Faringdon Road at Stanford-in-the-Vale, replacing the existing 40mph speed limit in its entirety in the process. Additionally, complementary measures will also be introduced, comprising of the following:

  • Toucan crossing (signal-controlled crossing for use by both pedestrians and pedal cyclists) – located on the A417 Faringdon Road, approx. 65 metres southeast of its junction with Joyce Road
  • Shared-Use foot & cycleways– located adjacent to the A417 Faringdon Road as follows:
    • East side: from a point 65 metres southeast of its junction with Joyce Road (i.e. the proposed new crossing), southwards to a point opposite the junction with Titchner Row (a distance of approx. 215 metres),
    • West side: from a point 65 metres southeast of its junction with Joyce Road (i.e. the proposed new crossing), north-westwards to its junction with Hawkins Avenue (a distance of approx.100 metres)

The proposals are being put forward in support of road safety for the more vulnerable road-users (i.e. pedestrians & pedal cyclists) in the vicinity of the adjacent residential development.

Have your say.

Please read the detailed information provided on this consultation and take the time to complete the survey as your views and opinions matter. Your response should be completed and returned by 5pm on Friday 18 October 2024.

Whilst we will endeavor to answer simple queries during the course of the consultation, any more complex questions/issues will be appraised and dealt with as part of consultation process.

What happens next?

The County Council will review the responses and if necessary (i.e. if objections are received) prepare a report to be presented to the Cabinet Member for Highway Management at a meeting scheduled for later in 2024. This will be public meeting at which members of the public may apply to speak. The agenda and reports for meetings will be made available on the Oxfordshire County Council web site about a week before the meeting (please note that occasionally it is necessary to defer reports to a later meeting, and it is therefore advisable to check the agenda ahead of attending a meeting). The Forward Plan of decisions meetings can be viewed here.
