Consultation has concluded

In March 2023, we invited feedback from Oxfordshire residents and various key stakeholders via a consultation exercise for the Sexual Health Needs Assessment. The aim of the Sexual Health Needs Assessment was to identify need, examine demand and assess the gaps in provision of sexual health services in Oxfordshire to plan for future service delivery.

You said:

In total, 309 responses were received. Overall, most survey respondents (81.5 per cent) had used the Oxfordshire Sexual Health Services (OSHS) and respondents who had used OSHS (95 per cent) said they would use the service again. Key themes from the consultation included positive feedback on professionalism of staff and the availability and flexibility of appointments. Other themes in relation to areas for improvement included provision of more drop-in/face to face clinics (most popular service), increased access to services in the more rural areas and raising awareness of services.

Based on the feedback received, recommendations were made which are being taken forward in the following ways via our action plans:

  • Raising awareness and improving publicity of the Oxfordshire sexual health services.
  • Increasing access to emergency contraception via pharmacies.
  • Improving access to contraception and contraception advice in more rural areas.
  • Increasing rapid access to sexual health services via way of more drop-in/pop-up clinics/same day appointments across the county.
  • Improving educational materials and information about Oxfordshire sexual health services that are accessible in different formats.
  • Increasing access to outreach services for groups that do not engage easily.
