We would like to hear from your about what school readiness means to you in your professional role. This will help inform the review of the School Readiness and Lifelong Learning Strategic Plan that supports each child in Oxfordshire to have the best start in life.
The insight you can offer will help to shape our work to update the plan to support children to be school ready. In particular, we would like to hear about your experiences and if you have identified barriers to support since the COVID-19 pandemic.
School Readiness and Lifelong Learning Strategic Plan
The School Readiness and Lifelong Learning Strategic Plan was published in July 2020. The purpose of the plan is to raise outcomes for all children at risk of under achievement in Early Years and to consider the need and outcomes for each individual child when thinking about readiness for school. The purpose of the strategy is to also identify any gaps in provision and how we might work together to address these gaps.
Our current plan is here and has four main priorities as being key for children to be ready for school and lifelong learning. The review we are undertaking will help us to identify if these priorities are still right, if anything is missing or should be added and if anything should be removed.
We know that the challenges associated with COVID-19 has meant that many children are beginning their schooling without having experienced the usual levels of social interaction. As part of the review, we will take into account the difficulties and challenges that families have faced over the last few years.
Please complete the questionnaire below to tell us what school readiness means to you in your role and what support you believe is needed to prepare children for school and help to make them ‘school ready’.
The school readiness questionnaire will run from Wednesday 8th February 2023 and will close on Sunday 12th March 2023.
When this review period has closed, we will read all the responses and amend the plan to take account of the views and experiences provided.
Feedback and new recommendations will be shared with the Children’s Trust and will aim to make sure new priorities set out in the plan are achieved.
