Help us to develop street lighting proposals that are right for Oxfordshire – sign up to our online workshop for representatives of women and girls groups
We are developing a part-night street lighting framework for the county and want to involve a range of local stakeholders in doing so. This is your chance to hear first-hand from the council’s project team leading this work, ask questions, provide feedback, and be part of the conversation.
Oxfordshire County Council operates approximately 60,000 streetlights across the county. Part-night lighting is an approach to reducing, or switching off, street lighting in an area for part of the night. It is intended to be used during the hours when the fewest people are using the streets, for example between midnight and 5am. Part-night lighting isn’t new, it operates in many other parts of the UK and is already allowed for in our current street lighting and illuminated assets policy.
We recognise the importance of involving communities as we develop our part-night street lighting framework for Oxfordshire. Listening to you at this early stage will help us to develop an approach that is right for Oxfordshire. We will be running an open public consultation about the framework later this year, which will take into account the views you share.
