This consultation has now concluded.

We're asking for your views on the proposal to formally install a new Minimum Impact (low signage) CPZ in the Upper Wolvercote area of Oxford. This follows on from the ‘informal’ consultation carried out in 2021, and the subsequent approval given to progress to formal consultation at a later date following the implementation of previously approved CPZs in other locations.

It is proposed that the scheme would be introduced as a ‘Permit Parking Area’ (PPA) which uses entry and repeater signs to inform motorists of the restrictions in place (e.g. no bay markings), with operational hours for the zone for ‘Residents Permit Parking’ being Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm. Non-permit holders will be eligible to park for a maximum of 2 hours with no return within 2 hours during these hours. This affords residents & visitors the flexibility of where they can park and reduces the amount of sign and line clutter

Additional waiting restrictions in the form of ‘Prohibition of waiting at any time’ (double yellow lines) will be introduced in parts of: First Turn, Godstow Road, St Peters Road, and Wolvercote Green. The existing ‘No Waiting Monday to Friday 10am-11am’ (Single Yellow Lines) will be removed from Mere Road & St Peters Road, whilst the existing ‘No Waiting Monday to Saturday 8am-6.30pm’ (Single Yellow Lines) on Godstow Road will be changed to ‘Prohibition of waiting at any time’ (Double Yellow Lines).

Note: Residents of: Churchill Place, Dove House Close, Fairlawn End, First Turn (Even Nos. 2 to Church Farm Cottage & Odd Nos. 7-37) , Godstow Road (Even Nos.2-44 & Odd Nos. 1-41), Goose Green Close, Mere Road, Millway Close, Pixey Place, Rawson Close, St Peters Road, Ulfgar Road, and Wolvercote Green will be eligible to apply for a maximum of two residents annual parking permits per property.

What happens next?

The County Council will review the responses and if necessary (i.e. if objections are received) prepare a report to be presented to the Cabinet Member for Highway Management at a meeting scheduled for later in 2022/early in 2023. This will be public meeting at which members of the public may apply to speak. The agenda and reports for meetings will be made available on the Oxfordshire County Council web site about a week before the meeting (please note that occasionally it is necessary to defer reports to a later meeting, and it is therefore advisable to check the agenda ahead of attending a meeting).
