Oxford: South Oxford Extension - proposed Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) amendments
This consultation has now concluded.
Following the implementation of the ‘South Oxford Extension’ Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) in January 2022, a review of the workings & effectiveness of the scheme has been carried out based on a combination of feedback from local residents and the local County Councillor. The Councillor also conducted their own informal consultation with residents to review how the scheme was working for them and if any changes were required. As a result of the feedback received & the resulting Officer consideration, two main amendments are being proposed:
Firstly, the times of operation will change from ‘8.00am to 6.30pm Monday to Saturday (Two hours no return in two hours for non-permit holders)’ to ‘8am to 8pm Monday to Sunday (one hour no return in one hour for non-permit holders)’ on roads in the northern part*, and then to ‘8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday (two hours no return in two hours for non-permit holders)’ in those roads in the southern part**.
* Roads in northern part include: Gordon Street, Green Place, Lake Street, School Place, Stewart Street, Summerfield, Vicarage Lane, and Vicarage Road.
** Roads in the southern part include: Bertie Place, Canning Crescent, Chatham Road, Fox Crescent, John Towle Close, Lincoln Road, Monmouth Road, Norreys Avenue, Northampton Road, Oswestry Road, Peel Place, Sunningwell Road, Weirs Lane, and Wytham Street
Secondly, amendments to existing parking restrictions will see the introduction of new sections of ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ (double yellow lines) on various roads & junctions within the zone, including the replacement of existing lengths of single yellow lines (limited waiting) along the western side of Abingdon Road.
Have your say.
Please read the detailed information provided on this consultation and take the time to complete the survey as your views and opinions matter. Your response should be completed and returned by 5pm on Friday 02 February 2024.
Whilst we will endeavor to answer simple queries during the course of the consultation, any more complex questions/issues will be appraised and dealt with as part of consultation process.
What happens next?
The county council will review the responses and if necessary (i.e. if objections are received) prepare a report to be presented to the Cabinet Member for Highway Management at a meeting scheduled for early in 2024. This will be public meeting at which members of the public may apply to speak. The agenda and reports for meetings will be made available on the Oxfordshire County Council web site about a week before the meeting (please note that occasionally it is necessary to defer reports to a later meeting, and it is therefore advisable to check the agenda ahead of attending a meeting). The Forward Plan of decisions meetings can be viewed here.
