Oxford: A4165 Banbury Road & A4158 Iffley Road - proposed traffic calming measures
This consultation has now concluded.
We're asking for your views on the proposal to construct traffic calming features on junctions adjacent to the A4165 Banbury Road & the A4158 Iffley Road in Oxford, which are being put forward in order to improve safety for ‘active travel’ users at priority junctions where safety concerns are highest. Further information on the 'Safer Roads' project - which is a part the councils vision zero commitment to work toward a goal of zero serious or fatal road traffic accidents on the county and city roads by 2050 - can be found here.
The proposals will see the introduction of standard ‘side-road-entry-treatments’ (SRET) comprising of Rhino's pattern imprinted asphalt, min 4m long flat raised tables, 1:15 gradient ramps, reduced kerb radius, and tactile paving at the following junctions:
- A4165 Banbury Road - Bevington Road, Norham Road, Parks Town (north & south junctions), St Margarets Road, Rawlinson Road, and Linton Road.
- A4158 Iffley Road - Freelands Road, Radcliffe Road, Cornwallis Road (see additional proposals below), Iffley Turn (southern junction), and Courtland Road (north & south junctions).
Solar studs are also proposed to be installed every 6m to assist the demarcation of cycle lanes, and the existing pedestrian refuges located north of the junctions with Freelands Road & Iffley Turn (south) will be widened to 2 metres, and will include the installation of new tactile paving and kerbing.
Finally, to help facilitate the proposed traffic calming at the junction with Cornwallis Road - it is proposed to introduce additional parking restrictions along Cornwallis Road, by extending the existing ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ (double yellow lines) on both sides of Cornwallis Road, eastwards from its junction with Iffley Road by 5 metres on the northern side, approx. 23.5 metres on the southern side.
Have your say.
