We are looking for your views on the Oxford Greenways project. The greenways will create seamless cycling and walking routes that connect nearby towns, villages, and future development sites with Oxford. It will also connect key spots like workplaces and cultural hubs, making it easier to get around Oxfordshire.

What is a greenway?

A greenway is a shared path for pedestrians and cyclists, found in both natural and landscaped areas, whether urban or rural. The Oxford Greenways will provide essential connections for those heading into Oxford.

We need your feedback!

We are looking for your thoughts on:

  1. Greenways Masterplan: This shows the priority greenway routes within the wider network, including planned schemes, National Cycle Network (NCN) and greenways long-list of routes.
  2. Route Delivery Plans: Detailed plans for each proposed greenways route:
    1. Corridor 1 - Woodstock Greenway
    2. Corridor 2 - Otmoor Greenway
    3. Corridor 3 - Boars Hill Greenway
    4. Corridor 4 - Wootton Greenway
    5. Corridor 5 - Kingston Bagpuize Greenway
    6. Corridor 6 - Wytham Greenway
  3. Greenways Wayfinding Toolkit: Ensures Oxford Greenways is equipped with a common visual identity and language which will be applied to the network’s future development.

Have your say

We would love to hear your views on the proposed greenways. Please fill in our online survey by clicking the 'TAKE SURVEY' button below. Your feedback will shape the final project in summer 2025.

The survey closes on March 18th at 11:59 PM.

This exciting project is a collaboration between Oxfordshire County Council, Oxford City Council, and Oxford University. Together, they will design and agree on the best routes to prioritise. Further background reading and more information can be found on this page under the 'Documents' section.

How does this fit with other walking and cycling plans?

  • The Strategic Active Travel Network (SATN) sets out a long-term county-wide plan of prioritised walking and cycling routes focusing on strategic routes between settlements.
  • Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans (LCWIP) sets out local walking and cycling plans for settlements such as Oxford, Abingdon and Kidlington.
  • Greenways looks to connect the gap between the SATN and the localised LCWIP networks.

Oxford Greenways also works with the county’s transport plans as it supports the priorities in the Local Transport and Connectivity Plan (LTCP) and the Central Oxfordshire Travel Plan (COTP).
