We're asking for your views on the proposal to amend the existing speed limits in Kingston Bagpuize, which are being put forward as a result of the development of adjacent land for residential purposes & the associated construction of a new roundabout junction on the A415 Abingdon Road leading eastwards from the village.

The existing 40mph speed limit on the A415 Abingdon Road being replaced by extending the existing 30mph speed limit leading out of the village, this will be followed by a new 40mph speed limit extending to the junction with Fyfield Wick, whilst also covering the circulatory carriageway of the new roundabout. The 40mph speed limit will also be extended on the other two roads leading off from the new roundabout i.e. the access road to new development, and the Kingston Business Park access road.

The proposals seek to reduce the existing national speed limit on the approaches to the roundabout, which will help improve highway safety by lowering vehicle speeds and reducing collision risk. The change will also support safer operation of the junction by improving driver awareness and reaction times.

Have your say.

Please read the detailed information provided on this consultation and take the time to complete the survey as your views and opinions matter. Your response should be completed and returned by 5pm on Friday 26 June 2026.

Whilst we will endeavour to answer simple queries during the course of the consultation, any more complex questions/issues will be appraised and dealt with as part of consultation process.

What happens next?

The County Council will review the responses and if necessary (i.e. if objections are received) prepare a report to be presented to the Cabinet Member for Highway Management at a meeting scheduled for later in 2026. This will be public meeting at which members of the public may apply to speak. The agenda and reports for meetings will be made available on the Oxfordshire County Council web site about a week before the meeting (please note that occasionally it is necessary to defer reports to a later meeting, and it is therefore advisable to check the agenda ahead of attending a meeting). The Forward Plan of decisions meetings can be viewed here.
