The Movement and Place (MAP) Plan for Kidlington and the surrounding villages is Oxfordshire County Council’s long-term plan to improve local places and transport. Its aim is to create better public spaces for communities and upgrade travel routes and infrastructure.

This MAP Plan is a ‘live’ document, meaning it will be updated regularly to reflect the latest needs and aspirations for the area, as schemes are developed and delivered. It includes proposals and projects for the next 25 years.

Overall, the MAP Plan is designed to enhance the quality of life for people who live, work, or visit Kidlington and the surrounding villages, through enabling healthy lifestyles, sustainable development, provide greater transport options and improve the local environment.

This MAP Plan covers the town of Kidlington, along with the surrounding villages, including:

Begbroke, Bletchingdon, Charlton-on-Otmoor, Fencott, Islip, Hampton Gay, Hampton Poyle, Horton-cum-Studley, Murcott, Noke, Oddington, Shipton-on-Cherwell, Thrupp, Weston-on-the-Green and Yarnton.

We welcome your in-person feedback and thoughts on the objectives and actions within the MAP Plan. As such, we will be holding in-person drop-in events at the following locations:

  • Islip - 11 August 10 am - 1 pm at Islip Village Hall
  • Kidlington - 20 August 11 am - 7 pm at Exeter Hall
  • Yarnton - 13 August 1 pm - 4 pm at Yarnton Village Hall

We want to hear what you think about the MAP Plan for Kidlington and the surrounding villages, and how we can make it better.

We’re especially keen to hear your views on:

  • The overall vision for the area
  • The objectives set out in the MAP Plan
  • The actions we’re planning to take to meet these objectives
  • The 12 outcomes for the MAP Plan

Your feedback will help shape the future of Kidlington and the surrounding villages.

Before you start the survey, we recommend having a look at either MAP Plan or the Executive Summary document and the proposals map. These give a helpful overview of what the plan is about.

But don’t worry—it’s not essential to read them before taking part.

This survey should take approximately 5 - 10 minutes to complete.

This consultation will run from Monday 27 July at 10:00 until Monday 14 September 2026 at 23:59.

What happens after the consultation period?

Once the consultation ends, we’ll look at all the survey responses and any other feedback we’ve received. This will help us make improvements to the MAP Plan.

The updated plan will then be presented to the Council’s Cabinet in December for approval.
