This consultation has now concluded.

We're asking for your views on the proposals to amend parking restrictions in Market place in Faringdon, in order to help facilitate the Saturday Market. It is proposed to extend the existing time limited waiting outside Nos.1 & 2 Market Place and outside Nos. 6-7a to also be in effect on Saturdays, with nearby corresponding limited waiting restrictions being amended to exclude Saturdays. The existing restrictions currently help manage traffic when the market occurs on a Tuesday, allowing the existing parking bays to be utilised by traders.

Additionally, ‘No Loading/Unloading 10am-2pm Tuesday & Saturday’ restrictions will be introduced on the northern side of Market Place outside Nos. 22-24 & ‘The Old Crown Coaching Inn’, and on the southern side in the bus stand and the area outside the Old Town Hall to help keep the area clear during the peak times of the markets operation.

Please read the detailed information provided on this consultation, and take the time to complete the survey as your views and opinions matter. Your response should be completed and returned by Thursday 09 June 2022.

Whilst we will endeavour to answer simple queries during the course of the consultation, any more complex questions/issues will be appraised and dealt with as part of consultation process.

What happens next?

The County Council will review the responses and if necessary (i.e. if objections are received) prepare a report to be presented to the Cabinet Member for Highway Management at a meeting scheduled for later in 2022. This will be public meeting at which members of the public may apply to speak. The agenda and reports for meetings will be made available on the Oxfordshire County Council web site about a week before the meeting (please note that occasionally it is necessary to defer reports to a later meeting, and it is therefore advisable to check the agenda ahead of attending a meeting).
