Oxfordshire Domestic Abuse Safe Accommodation Strategy 2021 – 2024

The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 brings wide-reaching changes in protective legislation and introduces a statutory duty on all local authorities to provide safe accommodation support services.

The Oxfordshire Domestic Abuse Safe Accommodation Strategy 2021 – 2024 outlines how Oxfordshire will implement the statutory duties associated with the provision of safe accommodation, as required by the Domestic Abuse Act 2021.

The Oxfordshire Domestic Abuse Safe Accommodation Strategy has been developed and will be delivered alongside the overarching Oxfordshire Domestic Abuse Strategy 2019-2024, which is currently in the process of being updated.

Oxfordshire residents, support agencies and community organisations, are being invited to have their say on the draft Oxfordshire Domestic Abuse Safe Accommodation strategy, which sets out how the council, in partnership with members of the Domestic Abuse Strategic Board, will improve the offer of support in safe accommodation over a three-year period.

Oxfordshire County Council is strengthening its commitment to supporting victims of domestic abuse in the county by publishing its draft strategy.

The draft Oxfordshire Domestic Abuse Safe Accommodation strategy will form one part of a wider strategy on tackling domestic abuse. This wider strategy is currently being refreshed and will be consulted on soon.

This draft strategy is being consulted upon in advance of the wider strategy consultation to ensure that the council meets the deadline in early 2022 set by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC).

We are interested in your views on this strategy, and will use your feedback to inform any changes to the final strategy document.
