This consultation has now concluded.

We're asking for your views on the proposals to introduce new parking restrictions on residential roads within the vicinity of the rail station in Didcot. The proposals will help better manage the provision of residential and short-stay parking in the area.

Specifically, the measures comprise of the following:

  1. `Residents Permit Only` parking is proposed in Cronshaw Close, Station Road and White Leys Close. These would be provided by means of a ‘permit holders only past this point’ restriction, operating at all times. This type of restriction requires vehicles to be allocated permits, with no separate parking spaces marked out – only parking restriction signs to alert motorists.
    • Residents of eligible addresses in Cronshaw Close, Haydon Road, Lydalls Road, Station Road & White Leys Close will be eligible to apply for permits. Contractors may also apply for short term permits, and visitors permits will be available for residents at eligible addresses, regardless of whether they have applied for a residents permit for their own vehicle.
  2. ‘Shared Use’ parking bays are proposed in parts of Haydon Road & Lydalls Road, with residents permit holders able to park without time limit, however non-permit holders will also be allowed to park for up to 30 minutes.
  3. New sections of ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restrictions are proposed at various locations in Haydon Road, Lydalls Road & White Leys Close to help facilitate the new measures.

Have your say.

Please read the detailed information provided on this consultation and take the time to complete the survey as your views and opinions matter. Your response should be completed and returned by 5pm on Friday 31 March 2023.

Whilst we will endeavor to answer simple queries during the course of the consultation, any more complex questions/issues will be appraised and dealt with as part of consultation process.

What happens next?

The County Council will review the responses and if necessary (i.e. if objections are received) prepare a report to be presented to the Cabinet Member for Highway Management at a meeting scheduled for later in 2023. This will be public meeting at which members of the public may apply to speak. The agenda and reports for meetings will be made available on the Oxfordshire County Council web site about a week before the meeting (please note that occasionally it is necessary to defer reports to a later meeting, and it is therefore advisable to check the agenda ahead of attending a meeting). The Forward Plan of decisions meetings can be viewed here.
