This consultation has now concluded.

We're asking for your views on the proposal to introduce 'kerbed' build-out traffic calming features on the entry to Chinnor village on the B4495 Thame Road, B4009 Crowell Road, and the B4009 Icknield Way.

The proposals are being put forward following concerns raised by the Parish Council about speeding on the main roads entering and leaving the village, with surveys confirming vehicle speeds of well in excess of the 30 mph limit despite the presence of existing ‘soft’ calming. More robust means of enforcing the 30mph speed limit have been deemed necessary to help reduce the danger to other motorists and vulnerable road users. Proposals for build-out chicanes and Vehicle Activated Signs on the B4009 Icknield Way and Crowell Road and B4445 Thame Road have therefore been drafted.

note: Despite excess speeds, Hill Road was not considered a priority due to the relatively low recorded traffic flows.

Please read the information provided on this consultation, your views and opinions matter. Please take the time to complete the survey, your response should be completed and returned by Friday 17 September 2021.

Whilst we will endeavour to answer simple queries during the course of the consultation, any more complex questions/issues will be appraised and dealt with as part of consultation process.

What happens next?

The County Council will review the responses and if necessary (i.e. if objections are received) prepare a report to be presented to the Cabinet Member for Highway Management at a meeting scheduled for later in 2021. This will be public meeting at which members of the public may apply to speak. The agenda and reports meetings will be made available on the Oxfordshire County Council web site about a week before the meeting (please note that occasionally it is necessary to defer reports to a later meeting, and it is therefore advisable to check the agenda ahead of attending a meeting).
