This consultation has now concluded.

We're asking for your views on the proposal to reduce speed limits on the `Bicester ring road’, as well as on the various approach roads to Bicester. The proposals are being put forward following a review of speed limits in the area, and seek to create a uniform speed limit throughout the route, which will see reductions of the existing 50mph & National speed limits to 40mph & 50mph on various roads. Existing 30mph speed limits will be unaffected.

Additional 40mph speed limits will be introduced on the A41 east of the ring road, and the A4421 Buckingham Road leading northwards from the ring road. As per an earlier consultation carried out in June/July 2021 – due to adjacent development of land – the 40mph speed limit on the B4030 Middleton Stoney Road will also be extended further westwards.

Finally, a new 50mph speed limit will be introduced on the A41 Bicester to Aylesbury road between the existing 40mph speed limits at the Oxford Road & B4100 London Road roundabouts, replacing the remaining section of National Speed Limit.

Please read the detailed information provided on this consultation, and take the time to complete the survey as your views and opinions matter. Your response should be completed and returned by Friday 18 February 2022.

Whilst we will endeavour to answer simple queries during the course of the consultation, any more complex questions/issues will be appraised and dealt with as part of consultation process.

What happens next?

The County Council will review the responses and if necessary (i.e. if objections are received) prepare a report to be presented to the Cabinet Member for Highway Management at a meeting scheduled for later in 2022. This will be public meeting at which members of the public may apply to speak. The agenda and reports for meetings will be made available on the Oxfordshire County Council web site about a week before the meeting (please note that occasionally it is necessary to defer reports to a later meeting, and it is therefore advisable to check the agenda ahead of attending a meeting).
