Banbury: Bretch Hill Estate - proposed parking restrictions & 20mph speed limit

We're asking for your views on the proposals to introduce a 20mph speed limit on the newer roads within the ‘Bretch Hill’ development. The proposals will cover the roads located to the west of Dover Avenue, Edinburgh Way, and Bretch Hill, and help promote road safety for all users and will ensure adherence to the Councils policy that all new residential developments should see a lower speed limit as standard.

Additionally, new ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ (double yellow lines) parking prohibitions are proposed on Longley Crescent/Wilson Road at the southern end of the development. The measures seek to ensure that traffic travelling along the ‘spine road’ facilitating the estate is unobstructed, especially as the next phase of development construction continues..

What happens next?

The County Council will review the responses and if necessary (i.e. if objections are received) prepare a report to be presented to the Cabinet Member for Highway Management at a meeting scheduled for later in 2023. This will be public meeting at which members of the public may apply to speak. The agenda and reports for meetings will be made available on the Oxfordshire County Council web site about a week before the meeting (please note that occasionally it is necessary to defer reports to a later meeting, and it is therefore advisable to check the agenda ahead of attending a meeting).
