Consultation has concluded

Have your say:
We’d like to hear what you think about certain bus routes in Banbury. The contract to provide these routes will expire towards the end of this year and we are gathering information about what residents would like from these local services in the future.

Banbury town bus services

The B3, B4, B5 and B9 local Banbury town services are currently operated by Stagecoach under contract to Oxfordshire County Council. The contracts for these routes expire in November 2023 and the Council will be tendering replacements over the summer. We would like to hear from users of these routes and Banbury residents to find out if there are any changes that could be made to better serve the town and make the routes more attractive to more people.

The routes are funded with money from the various housing and employment developments in the town. The Council sets the frequency and routes, the bus company sets the fares. The funding for these routes is finite and the aim is to build up the numbers of passengers using them so that they become financially sustainable (from income from the fares) in the future.

We have some questions about these routes, how you currently use them and a final question where you can provide more detailed comments if you wish. The results of this consultation will influence our contract specifications for the routes and will also be provided to bus companies during the contract tendering process.

Where do these routes go?

B3: Bodicote, Longford Park and Cherwell Heights to Banbury Town Centre

B4: Hanwell View / Hardwick Hill via Southam Road to Banbury Town Centre

B5: Bretch Hill to Banbury Town Centre

B9: North West Banbury (Sussex Drive, Warwick Road, Dukes Meadow Drive, Rother Road) via Highlands to Banbury Town Centre and continuing on via Middleton Road to Banbury Gateway

Please note: we are only asking for comments on routes B3, B4, B5 and B9. The 'KATS' community transport routes and longer distance buses that serve Banbury are not part of this review.
