Aureus School Community consultation: proposal to reduce the capacity of the site

GLF, the academy trust responsible for Aureus School in Didcot, is consulting on a proposal to reduce the physical capacity of Aureus School from 1,200 to 900 students, to align it more closely with the school's Published Admissions Number.

A reduction in the planned admission number (PAN) has already been implemented, and a lower student capacity reflects the actual and projected levels of demand in the local community. This adjustment is designed to align the school’s resources and facilities to the student body, ensuring:

● More tailored teaching and learning environment

● A stronger focus on pupil well-being and inclusion

● Continued financial sustainability of the school

As part of this initiative, GLF Schools will release part of the school site to Oxfordshire County Council to enable the development of a new special school for children and young people with additional needs. This project will help address a significant local need and provide high-quality specialist education provision within Didcot, benefitting the whole community.
