Ambrosden: A41 & Ploughley Road - proposed 40mph speed limit & turn restrictions

We're asking for your views on the proposal to introduce a 40mph speed limit on Ploughley Road, extending southwards from the A41 to meet the existing Ambrosden village 30mph speed limit. The proposals - which are being put forward due to proposed improvement works at the A41/Ploughley Road junction - will also introduce new turn restrictions, with traffic being restricted to only turn left onto the A41 form the Ploughley Road, and traffic heading westwards on the A41 will be prohibited from turning left onto the Ploughley Road. Improved engineering measures at the junction will help aid self-enforcement of these restrictions.

Finally, the existing bus stop on the westbound side of the A41 will be relocated approx. 110 metres further west, and will be accompanied by a ‘Bus Stop Clearway’ restriction that will prevent parking except for buses at all times.

What happens next?

The County Council will review the responses and if necessary (i.e. if objections are received) prepare a report to be presented to the Cabinet Member for Highway Management at a meeting scheduled for later in 2022. This will be public meeting at which members of the public may apply to speak. The agenda and reports for meetings will be made available on the Oxfordshire County Council web site about a week before the meeting (please note that occasionally it is necessary to defer reports to a later meeting, and it is therefore advisable to check the agenda ahead of attending a meeting).
